Treatment with Your Own Blood is the name of the method called platelet-rich plasma (PRP) application. It is the process of taking a small amount of blood from a person, processing it through a special procedure to separate it into its components, and reinjecting the obtained small amount of “platelet-rich plasma” back into the same person.
Platelets, or thrombocyte cells, are cells that enable blood clotting and contain growth factors that repair damaged vessels and other tissues in our body. When there is any damage to our tissues, the repair process begins through platelets. In PRP treatment application, many more platelets and the growth factors they contain can be delivered to the target area than can be transported through blood circulation.
The aging of our skin results from the loss of certain physical properties, similar to the wound healing process. Therefore, in skin rejuvenation applications, we mimic what our body does when healing a wound through various methods. For example, we create micro-level damage to our skin with methods such as laser, roller, and peeling, and trigger the healing process. Following this damage, growth factors are released and the healing process begins. Dermocosmetic products similarly initiate the healing process through substances that restructure our skin and synthetically obtained growth factors.
When platelets concentrated in plasma are injected under the skin, the growth factors they contain stimulate collagen production and the formation of new capillaries, enabling the skin to rapidly renew itself. As a result, skin renewal, rejuvenation, and revitalization are achieved.
